Announcing: We’re Powered by Shunpike

Seattle [4] August 2025 - The Evergreen Echo, a burgeoning PNW arts and culture publication, has secured fiscal sponsorship through Shunpike, a Washington-based arts organization that provides artists with equitable access to vital expertise, opportunities, and business services via their programs, such as Fiscal Sponsorship, ACES: Artists of Color Expo and Symposium, Shunpike Artist in Residence & Storefronts, and The Studio @ 2+U.

The Evergreen Echo, a dynamic arts and culture cooperative publication, announced today its new fiscal sponsorship partnership with Shunpike, a leading nonprofit organization supporting creative communities. This strategic alliance positions The Echo to significantly expand its reach and impact within the arts community.

With this arrangement, The Evergreen Echo will operate under Shunpike's non-profit umbrella, enabling the publication to access previously unavailable funding opportunities through grants and donations. The partnership provides The Echo with access to Shunpike’s comprehensive business support, professional training programs, and expanded arts opportunities that will enhance its operational capacity.

Ry Armstrong, Founder of The Echo commented, “The Echo was born out of an inability to be heard in the mainstream as an up-and-coming artist. The larger publications didn’t have capacity to cover our work in the community, and that is unacceptable. So the answer for our cooperative was to build it so many more can be uplifted.”

“When we amplify the people, communities, and moments that routinely or strategically go unheard or unseen, we uplift everyone. We are honored to partner with Shunpike, to elevate our collective mission, and to provide a platform that shares what it means to live and thrive in our region,” added Mary Adner, Echo’s Editor.

A small collection of people and experiences The Echo has covered so far.

The collaboration will enable The Echo to intensify its efforts to expand its creative team, develop new community offerings and programming, and enhance its publication quality. Shunpike's proven track record of supporting arts organizations provides The Echo with valuable resources and mentorship opportunities.

The Evergreen Echo opens the door to creative journalism to our larger Puget Sound community. To submit press releases, pitch a story, learn more about upcoming events and opportunities, or to collaborate with The Echo, visit theevergreenecho.org. This partnership takes effect immediately, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for both organizations.

The Evergreen Echo will be hosting two (2) public readings in August. Distant Worlds Coffeehouse has graciously provided their space on August 14, 2025, at 5:30 p.m., and a second reading event will be held at Elliott Bay Book Company on August 29, 2025, at 7 p.m. These events are free and open to the public. Guests will have opportunities at both events to meet writers and staff from The Echo.
