The Evergreen Echo is a co-operative publication dedicated to celebrating the arts and beyond. We are a collective of journalists and creatives who believe in the power of storytelling. Our mission is to highlight diverse voices within the creative economy for a more inclusive dialogue.
Job Overview:
We are looking for passionate creatives based in the Puget Sound region to join our team. Our writers cover a variety of topics: including culinary, educational, environmental, governmental, historic, intersectional, literary, media, performing, and visual perspectives. As part of our co-operative, you will collaborate with a diverse group of individuals focused on truly covering the breadth of life in the Pacific Northwest.
Key Responsibilities:
Create and develop high-quality content for the Evergreen Echo.
Research current trends and events in the arts community and related fields.
Conduct interviews with artists and other key figures in various sectors.
Brainstorm and pitch story ideas with the editorial team.
Participate in the co-operative's decision-making processes.
Engage with readers and respond to feedback.
Meet deadlines and maintain a consistent publishing schedule.
Qualifications:
Experience as a writer, journalist, or content creator, preferably focused on the arts or related fields.
Strong writing and storytelling skills.
Excellent research and interview skills.
Passion for the arts.
Understanding of various artistic disciplines is a plus, but not required.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Familiarity with digital publishing tools is a plus.
Commitment to co-operative values and principles.
Must be based in the Puget Sound region.
Compensation:
Compensation is currently a percentage of revenue.
